Missing Links

October 27, 2007

Above is an overview of the sasquatchery and related phenomena witnessed last weekend. The Crypto-Zoetropical Pursuit was held at Rererato Art Space in Portland on Friday Oct. 19th, 7pm, and at LumpWest, Eugene on Saturday Oct.20th, 8pm, in an anniversary celebration of the infamous Bigfoot image and the menagerie of associated mysteries….

there may be interest to further pursue the artists involved with this adventure! so here are the missing links:

Screening includes a variety of crypto-zoetropicalists, such as:
LoVid (NYC),
Daniel Heila (EUG),
Stephen Slappe (PDX),
Gretchen Hogue(PDX),
Carl Diehl (PDX),
Eric Ostrowski (SEATTLE),
Jesse England (EUG),
MAck Mcfarland (PDX),
Gijs Gieskes(Netherlands),
Phil Stearns (LA),
noteNdo (BALTIMORE)

BONUS SIGHTINGS:
(Friday night only) Portland’s Pulse Emitter uses eclectic electronic synthesis to uncover the unseen sound of saucer/sasquatch sightings!

Then Universe will present the poetry and possibilities of sasquatch-UFO interdimensional collaborations!

(On Saturday only) Eugene’s Don Haugen synthesizes field recordings using home-made apparatuses, circuit-bent instruments and a belief that the Bigfoot exists.

(Both Nights)
Performance by Portland’s Instinct Control…using the all but forgotten technology of cassette tape to re-mix the evening’s audio, and pushing the tape deck’s own fortean impulses further afield via the electronic art of circuit-bendiing!

Son of Sasquatch performance by Jason Jones, of Eugene. Unusual, but now well substantiated, the infamous Bigfoot is believed to have been one of the thousands of young dreamers who flocked to the San Francisco Bay Area during the Summer of Love. Unknowingly siring an offspring–the Son of Sasquatch! What does this new era hold for us and the Son of Sasquatch?

Procession of the Damned

May 7, 2007

“A PROCESSION of the damned. By the damned, I mean the excluded. We shall have a procession of data that Science has excluded. Battalions of the accursed, captained by pallid data that I have exhumed, will march….” -Charles Fort, Book of The Damned , 1919

This database of the damned set forth around 9:15am, out from the depths of the Potter garage. The rains of frogs and hail held out for our flight today and after a lumbering launch, we held to a steady clip. With help from Ryan Halley and the PXL visionary Jesse England — we navigated the concrete (and ever green) jungles of Eugene.

Most human contact was limited to blank stares and gaping mouths. Of note was one older woman in the vicinity of 20th/Harris who slowed down our damnable craft to question our motives. Ascertaining that we weren’t selling anything, she excitedly discussed Chaos theory with us and then went merrily on her way! As predicted, it took just 90 minutes to complete our procession. We unloaded at the docks of JSMA victorious and rejoicing.

RhYthm fRoM WrEckAGe!!!

April 17, 2007

Rhythm from Wreckage will resurface with its latest showcase of unusual experiments in time-based art from artists around the world on Thursday May 17th. Plumb the unseen worlds of everyday appliances with Jesse England (Springfield), Learn strange facts and machine mythologies from Nate Harrison (Los Angeles) and Carl Diehl(Eugene). Marvel at the synesthetic cinema found lurking in a humble SK-1 toy keyboard with help from Gijs Gieskes (Netherlands) and enjoy several other excursions into the outer regions of audio-visual experience!

Thursday May 17th @ DIVA gallery, 8pm, $5, or $3 students/members
